For sun-deprived New Englanders like me who haven’t seen green grass in months, this sounds like heaven.

Floriade is a World Horticultural Expo staged once every TEN years in the Netherlands. During the period from April until mid-October 2012, the sixth anniversary of Floriade will be held.

“100 acres, 100,000 flowers, 30 country exhibitions, wine tastings, cultural shows, regional culinary delights.  This is the EVENT of 2012 for flower lovers, and anyone interested in the green technology of the future,” says David Lutz, Collette Vacations’ Product Manager.

Here are 5 reasons not to miss the 2012 Floriade:

    Thanks for your question. Collette is very close to releasing its Floriade tour with pricing. We are just finalizing a few details. Check back this week because on Wednesday we will have another post with some more details of our tour to Belgium, Netherlands and France. By mid-April or sooner, it will be available to book.

    We are looking for a tour that spends 2 days at Floriade 2012 and then continues on to Germany for a week or more. Hopefully starting from Dusseldorf

    @rhorn it looks like our specific Floriade tour as it stands now will visit Belgium, Netherlands and France. We do have a tour, Legendary Waterways of Europe, which travels from Amsterdam to Budapest and includes a 14-night cruise along Germany’s Rhine, Moselle, Main and Danube but it begins in Koblenz not Dusseldorf.

    I am very interested to going to Floriade 2012 as part of an escorted tour and I’ve been waiting for almost ten years to Floriade. What do you suggest as a reasonable amount of time to spend at Floriade?

    Where is Collette Tours in terms of that tour for the Floriade? We want to see the Floriade and spend more than 5 hours there – somewhere we heard Collette was doing a tour specifically for Floriade?

    Collette Vacations is so close to releasing its Netherlands, Belgium and France Floriade tour. Just a few more things to finalize and then it will be available for purchase. As soon as that happens I will write a post announcing it so be sure to check back in the next few weeks.
