I recently had the opportunity to chat with Wald Zoller, Collette Vacations district sales manager, to discuss his recent trip to France. When I asked him what made this trip so special, he explained, “It is rich in history and second to none in culture.”

Here are a few other observations – in no particular order – that Wald felt reflected the essence of France.

  1. Envision Paris as it is displayed in the movies. In reality, Paris truly is that remarkable. Wald says, “Whether it is the architecture, street planning, art, fashion, food, drink, or entertainment, Paris offers the best of all.” Take the opportunity to view the breathtaking Notre Dame Cathedral, Eiffel Tower, and world famous Louvre, and take a romantic evening cruise along the Seine River – experiences that you can enjoy on Collette’s France Magnifique tour.
  2. Enjoy a show with a mix of song, dance, and acrobatics at the Paradis Latin, Paris’s oldest cabaret theater. “It is predominantly a fast paced dancing show and done in a tasteful ‘Parisian Style’ and not in the least offensive,” says Wald.  Enjoy a delicious dinner complete with wine and champagne during the show to ensure you feel welcome.

  3. Overlook the Mediterranean coast with a visit to St. Paul de Vence, a 16th century walled town perched on mountaintops. Wald explains that its geographic location provides an “incredible opportunity to take once in a lifetime photos.” Explore the medieval village along one of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe.
  4. Marvel your way through Nice during a morning stroll through the local Flower Market. Nice is “a beautiful city on the clean, blue Mediterranean Sea,” says Wald. It is located right on the beach with a dozen restaurants close by offering delicious French cuisine. Visit the Place Massena and the seafront Promenade des Anglais.
  5. Create your own personal French fragrance during a visit to a local perfumery. This is a fantastic highlight for all, including men. “I have never seen people so dedicated to making the perfect concoction for personal use,” explains Wald. Make your own perfume to take home with the bonus option to re-order the same fragrance you created for yourself online!

Wald who has traveled extensively throughout his career with Collette, could go on and on, but believes the best way to learn about the beauty of France is to experience it yourself
