A Collette Vacations’ guest traveling on our Shades of Ireland tour became the 100,000th visitor to the Waterford Crystal Centre in the City of Waterford, Ireland. On April 15, 2011, Brenda Meyer of New Fairfield, CT, was greeted by Mr. David McCoy, commercial director for Waterford Crystal Centre, and staff, and presented with a beautiful Waterford Crystal Vase to mark the milestone. The Centre confirmed at the time of the ceremony that Collette Vacations is the biggest tour operator in terms of number of guests to visit the Centre since it opened last June.

The 10-day Shades of Ireland tour, one of Collette Vacations’ most popular, begins in Dublin for two nights before traveling to the historic city of Waterford where guests visit the recently-opened House of Waterford Crystal Factory with a visitor’s center and retail store housing the largest collection of Waterford Crystal in the world.

This tour includes must-see Ireland experiences like Blarney Castle and a chance to kiss its famous stone; a time-honored Irish jaunting car ride; a drive along the beautiful coastal route, the Ring of Kerry; the Cliffs of Moher; and an overnight stay on the grounds of Cabra Castle.

“It seemed fitting that the 100,000th visitor to the House of Waterford Crystal Centre was a Collette passenger,” said Dan Sullivan, Jr., Collette Vacations’ president and CEO. “We overnight in Waterford and include a guided visit to the Crystal Factory, something not every company does.”

For any of our readers thinking of a trip to Ireland, Collette is offering great last minute offers on its Shades of Ireland program when booked by July 31, 2011.
