Costa Rica and its Pura Vida
In Costa Rica, this phrase “Pura Vida” is often used. However, instead of being thought of as a phrase, it is more of a way of life. Translated as “pure life,” it suggests a simple way of living and enjoying the moments as they come. Costa Rican locals say this to guests constantly to remind them to enjoy their vacation and leave their worries behind. This nationalized expression represents Costa Rica’s tranquil land well.
It’s been quite a few years since I visited Costa Rica with my husband and though we both say how eager we are to go back, we haven’t made it yet. I am certain, too, that the next time we visit Costa Rica it will be with three kids in tow who are eager to zip line through the rainforest and see a howler monkey. 
Costa Rica is one of the greenest countries on Earth with 25% of its land protected and 26 national parks. Whether it’s the lush forests, striking waterfalls, everlasting coastlines, exotic animals or the beautiful plants and flowers, Costa Rica has been blessed by Mother Nature.
Certain sights should be on your bucket list for the simple reason that they amaze us. Costa Rica’s terrain allows guests to unwind during a Monte Verde Cloud Nature Walk, experience the forest canopy on hanging bridges or zip lines, and explore part of the 20,000 nature preserve on a Cano Negro River Safari.
If rest and relaxations is on the agenda then a swim in the emerald waters of the Pacific, a visit to the many beautiful gardens and national parks, or a soak in the therapeutic hot springs of Arenal Volcano should top your day’s itinerary. And for more cultural pursuits, a visit to a banana, pineapple, cocoa, and coffee plantation can all be accomplished in Costa Rica as can unusual sightings on an early morning bird watching excursion.
When looking for a destination that applies to any age range, Costa Rica is a great choice and this affordable destination is only a short 3-5 hour flight away from most major U.S. gateways.
