Vancouver’s Stanley Park

Stanley-Park

I dropped in to see my friends at the Stanley Park Ecology Society (SPES) today! Pictured with me here (I’m on the far right) are the SPES’s Executive Director Patricia Thomson (second from right), and three keen Nature House volunteers.

The weather was beautiful and Vancouverites and visitors from all over were enjoying all Stanley Park has to offer. In fact a nice couple from Nova Scotia asked me for directions to the Rose Gardens. Having told them how to get there, they began to wander off but not before I said “you should really go to the Nature House, too!”

All too often this little treasure trove of the SPES is missed by visitors. Understandably, it’s more than a little hard to find. The SPES is working on that. However, those that find it will be rewarded. Visitors can ask questions and learn more about the role the SPES plays in park stewardship as well as a whole host of initiatives in education, research and conservation.

The Collette Foundation is proud to help support the SPES and the good work it does. For more information on the Stanley Park Ecology Society, please go to  http://www.stanleyparkecology.ca/. To learn more about The Collette Foundation, visit www.collettefoundation.org.
