European River Cruises for 2014

As 2013 comes to an end, there is much discussion in travel publications about what trends will make their way to the forefront in 2014. One hot travel trend being discussed is European river cruises. “Demand is definitely outpacing supply even as major river cruise lines build more ships,” says Travel Leaders Group CEO Barry Liben. “The continued success of river cruising is just one of many positive stories heading into the New Year.”  Collette has four tours ready to meet that demand: the Rhine River Cruise, Legendary Waterways of Europe, Cruising the Best of Scandinavia, and the Heart of Russia. On the Legendary Waterways tour, travelers spend 14 nights aboard the MS Amadeus Brilliant, Princess, or Diamond, cruising along the Main-Danube Canal and the Rhine, and disembarking during the day at Budapest, Vienna, Passau, Regensburg, Bamberg, Cologne, and Amsterdam. The Rhine River Cruise is a nine-day cruise and land program, with six nights spent aboard the MS Gérard Schmitter. Traveling along Dutch canals and the Rhine River, there are opportunities to explore Amsterdam, Rüdesheim, Mannheim, Heidelberg, and Strasbourg. Cruising the Best of Scandinavia—a 13-day tour—features seven nights aboard Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas, with opportunities to explore Stockholm and Copenhagen, as well as Norway’s Flam, Geirangerfjord, Alesund, and Bergen.  The 13-day Heart of Russia tour takes you to Moscow, Uglich, Goritsy, Kizhi Island, Mandroghi, and St. Petersburg. Your cruise ship—the MS Tolstoy or the MS Pushkin—traverses the Volga River, White Lake, Lake Onega, the Svir River, and the Neva River. All aboard—Europe’s spectacular waterways are waiting for you!
